How to Edit a Course (Admin Portal)

This lesson will show you how to edit a course.

Click on "Current" or "Past" courses under courses in the Navigation menu, depending on which course you would like to edit.

There are a few different ways you can search for the class that you would like to edit.

1) You can type in Course ID, Name, Description, or Instructor (any instructor that is assigned to the course) in the search bar at the top to search for your specified course.

2) You can search the courses by Alphabetical order

3) You can search through the Main, Sub, and Optional Sub-categories to find the desired course.

4) You can filter through All, Current, Past, Cancelled, Internal, Low Enrollment, and Highest Earnings courses to find the desired course.

5) This is the main display area that the courses will show up. You can scroll through them to find your desired course.

Click on the course that you would like to edit.

This screen gives you information about the course also. Once you find the course you are looking for, click on the course name and you will be taken to the edit screen.

1) The top part shows the Course Name, Number, and ID. Click on the edit/pencil button next to each field to edit it.

2) Underneath the Course name is the Category areas. Here you can change the Main, Sub, and optional Sub-categories by choosing a different one from the drop down menus.

3) Dates and Times - Here you can edit the dates and the times of the course. Simply click the edit/pencil icon in that field , and you will have the option to change the date and time, and add more dates as well. Additional information on the next step.

4) Enrollment Statistics - This shows you the max number of students that can sign up, the number of students that are already enrolled, the max number of wait listed, and the number of wait listed students at the time. This Graph shows that there are 2 students enrolled in the class of a max 10 allowed. And there are 0 current students in waitlist out of a max of 5. You can the max allowed by clicking edit in the top right of this widget area.

5) Action* - In this widget you can Print a Sign-in Sheet, Print Name Cards & Labels, Duplicate the course, Print Certificates, Email the Course, Take Attendance, and Promote your course.

6) Descriptions - This widget is where you can edit the course descriptions. You can choose the tab for the long or short description, then either click on the text or the edit/pencil icon to edit. Afterwards you can save or cancel the edit which is something you will see on the next step.

7) Enrollment - This is where you can see the students that are enrolled in the course. You can see the active students, waitlisted and students that have cancelled the course. You can also take attendance and export an excel spreadsheet from this widget.

8) Instructor - This is where you can see the instructor(s) for the course. It shows each instructor as tabs, you can see their information including email, biography, and their fees. You can add an instructor in the top right of this widget, delete the instructor by clicking the "x" next to their name, and edit their bio by clicking the edit/pencil button next to the bio. You can then save or cancel the edit which you will see on the next step.

9) Course Confirmation E-Mail - Here you can add extra text and attachments to the default course confirmation email. You can also preview the e-mail by clicking on the magnifying glass in the top right of the widget.

10) Reports - This is where you can see the reports for the course, including the payment status.

On this step, as you can see, I clicked on the edit icons on some of the fields and you can see that the icons now have a blue floppy disk and  red "x". The blue floppy disk is save, and the red "x" is cancel.

1) On the course name, you can see after I pressed edit, I can now change the name. After I am finished I can press Save or Cancel to either, save or cancel my edit.

2) Dates and Times - Enrollment options, here you can set additional options to show the course as closed X number of days before enrollment, or to stay on public page X number of days after the start date.

3) Descriptions - This shows again how you can save or cancel an edit after you start editing the field.

4) Instructor - To edit the instructor Bio, you click on the edit/pencil icon, and then you can add or remove information in the field that pops open. You can save or cancel the edit afterwards.

This is the bottom of the same page as the previous steps.

1) Location - This is what you will see in location wen you click the edit icon. You can select different options for the location of the course.

2) Surveys - Here you can set the Pre-Course and Post-Course surveys. Just choose the survey that you would like from the drop-down menu.

3) Social Networking - In this widget, you can log into your Facebook and share your course with your friends.

4) Course Options - This widget has some other course options that you can edit. Pricing affects the pricing of the course. Credits lets you set the credits and how much to give for the course. Materials allows you to add materials to the course and make them required if you like. Pre-reqs is where you can add some prerequisites for the course. Identifiers is where you can specify a target audience for the course as well as add icons.

5) Blackboard - This widget is for those courses that are integrated with blackboard.
